Manhattan Shopping Department Stores

Macy’s is a chain of department stores with the store at Herald Square in Midtown Manhattan being the flagship store. The history of Macy’s at Herald Square began in the mid-19th century and today a major shopping landmark in New York City.  Macy’s is popular with shoppers searching for quality merchandise such as clothing, shoes, accessories, handbags, fragrance, and jewelry. Prices are in the mid to high range but during the sales period you can get great deals and extensive discounts.

Another shopping landmark in New York City is Bloomingdale’s, also located in Midtown Manhattan at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue. Bloomingdale is a classy department store offering luxury brands under a single roof. The department store’s parent company is Macy’s and its history in New York City also began in the mid-19th century. However, Bloomingdale does not compete with Macy’s but with other upscale department stores – prices of its merchandise are in the high range rather than mid to high range.
