Goat Island
Goat Island is a small uninhabited island situated in the middle of the Niagara River and in the southwestern corner of the city of Niagara Falls. The island separates the American Falls from the Horseshoe Falls. It is a small island measuring about a mile (1.6 km) in an east-west direction and 0.3 miles (0.5 km) at its widest point. The western end of Goat Island is gradually being eroded by the power of the falls. The waters immediately around Goat Island are relatively shallow and studded with islets and rocks.

There are two bridges from the mainland leading to Goat Island. The Pedestrian Bridge is accessible by walking, while the American Rapids Bridge only opens to vehicle traffic. Goat Island offers some of the most spectacular views of the Niagara Falls including the American Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls. An elevator provides access down to the foot of the Niagara Falls, leading to the Cave of the Winds and the foot of the Bridal Veil Falls.

Terrapin Point is on the western edge of Goat Island and offers the closest view of the Horseshoe Falls. The smaller Luna Island is situated off the northern edge of Goat Island and which is accessible by a footbridge – Luna Island offers the closet view of the American Falls. The Three Sisters Island is situated south of Goat Island and also accessible by a footbridge. From here you can view the rapids cascading over the Horseshoe Falls. Goat Island is home to the Tesla Monument honoring Nikola Tesla, an inventor who contributed to the birth of commercial electricity.
